Developing on the theme of camel
safari, horse safaris have become enormously popular
in Udaipur and its environs. Horse safaris are popular
in Rajasthan, mainly through Marwar, the history of
which expressed in its valor, battle and chivalry,
is inseparable from the horse.
Aravalli hills are geographically
distant from the rest of the Desert State. Here, erstwhile
titled landlords built lavish castle and imposing
forts in the villages that were parceled out to them.
It is these places among the less known and visited
in the country, that are the destination of horse
safari.
A carvan of horses travel through thickly wooded hills,
colorful villages into a stately home, which usually
forms the focus of the safari.
Mainly horse safaris are conducted
around or in out skirts of Udaipur, Kumbalgarh, Rohit
Garh and Nawal Garh, which provide both splendid riding
exercise, and the mean to witness the authentic places
of scenic beauty and tourist interest.
Some horse safaris are available in
Ladakh on exotic trek routes. In addition, horse safaris
are operated through desert or hilly areas of Gujarat
and south India.
