view of the 7000 m. high peaks along the snow capped Singla

Nepal
has divided the peaks
open to ascents by foreigners into two categories:
Mountaineering
peaks and Trekking peaks. Mountaineering Peaks
are of height over 6500m, they require a relatively
large sum of funds for a permit fee, Liaison Officer
etc.
Trekking Peaks
are below 6,500 m in height and can be booked
through a registered trekking agency. The cost
of booking fee etc. is comparatively very less.
In fact these are not the peaks really you can
trek over, but provide large number of trekking
routes through their slopes.

| Himalayas present an amazing
variety of landscape, from stark high altitude deserts,
alpine lakes and meadow, to sub-tropical jungles
which offer variety of treks ranging from a day
long hike to 30 days trek. Treks
in the Himalayas offer an incredible variety.
Each area has its own significance, terrain, vegetation,
climate, people and customs.
Ladakh a high altitude plateau, know as Little
Tibet, is an excellent trekking region of Jammu
and Kashmir State. In the south of Ladakh are
Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh with their emerald
green valleys, alpine meadows, pine forests, clear
mountain streams and lakes.
The Garhwal and Kumaon regions
of Uttaranchal, containing many peaks over 20,000
ft. Are the most popular destinations for trekkers.
The trekking areas in Sikkim resemble the middle
hills of Nepal.
Trekking is not just the fad of
eccentrics and bush walkers, its realm joy is
in the unhurried pace of travel, with appreciating
the awesome beauty of mountains and the might
of the rivers and glaciers.
For trekking, no special training
is required, any one who loves nature, is active,
in good health and would like to remain physically
fit can trek. Trekking season varies according
the area you intend to trek through. Seasons for
Garhwal: Kumaon, Himachal Pradesh are April to
June and Mid September to November, Ladakh June
through October and Sikkim October to May.
Nepal trekking takes place from March to May and
October to November, and Bhutan March to May and
September to November
